Lagoon

On Wednesday David called me from work and said that one of his coworkers was going to Lagoon on Thursday and they had this thing that could get us in for $18 a ticket and if we wanted to we could get in on it. David decided a month or so ago that he wanted to take some vacation in August and that just happened to be this weekend so we decided to take them up on their offer. How could we pass up more than half off on a ticket! So we called my sisters to see if they could come and the Aulai's also. It ended up everyone could go, which turned out so much fun. Logan loves the Aulai's and was so excited when they got there. My wonderful sister Emily watched Logan while we went on rides and while David, Logan, Licoln and Ariana went to Lagoon a Beach. Logan did so much better than I thought he would. At times he would get restless in the stroller so we would strap on his monkey and let him walk around a bit. After he got sick of that we would go on the train ride which he absolutely loved. After each time he would say "One More". He did not like the waterpark though. The water was too cold. But it wore him down just enough for a nap. I am glad we got to go because it was kind of one last hoorah before my sisters and the kids have to go back to school and it was so nice that David already had the day off!

He loved riding on the train and seeing all the animals.

I love his little cheesy smile!

Logan and Daddy in the water. In this picture Logan is trying to climb up David to get out of the cold water.

I wanted to put this picture in because these are two of Logan's new favorite things. Wearing daddy's and mommy's shoes and watching Finding Nemo in his little tv. At least once a day lately he comes up to us and says "Mamo" to watch his movie. What a funny little boy!

Camping

This weekend Logan and I went camping with my family. Unfortunately, David had to work so he couldn't come. It was still fun though. We went to Lava Hot Springs and the campsite we stayed at was very nice. When we got there we got everything set up and then just kind of hung out til all the families got there. In our campsite there was a playground which was perfect to keep Logan a little entertained. Also Lincoln came with us and it kept him entertained as well. It was his first time camping and he had a lot of fun. After all the families got there we made and ate dinner and then went to the hot pots. They were really interesting. One of them was 102 degrees, another was 106 degrees, and the last one got up to 110 degrees in some spots. By the time we were done there my body felt like the inside was cooking.

After we got back from the hot pots we roasted marshmallows and starbursts. Then just sat around the campfire and talked. I think some of us were up til after one talking. Then we decided to go to bed. Hilary, Logan, and I slept in my parents van. We took out all the seats and put an air mattress in. Since I was going to be sleeping in the van I figured I wouldn't need a sleeping bag. BIG mistake. It was freezing. I think it might have been one of the worst night sleeps ever. Luckily Logan slept well though. In the morning when we woke up it was pouring rain and so cold. It took a while to get a fire started but finally did. We got so wet and it was just plain cold. After a while some people went into town but Logan was asleep so we stayed at the campsite. It started warming up a little in the afternoon so people ran the river and played at the pool but it still felt too cold to me to play in water. So we just stayed at the campsite all day and just hung out. Around 6:30 we got everything packed to go home and were on our way. It was a fun trip, but would have been a lot better if it had not rained. And next time we will for sure camp for a few nights.

Thanks mom and dad for taking us with you!

Logan fell asleep watching Finding Nemo. He is obsessed with that movie. I think we have watched it 10 times in the last week.

My cousins Madeleine and Jenna bought these candies that were candy on the outside and once you got to the inside it tasted like fish. They bought them for all the little kids but decided to try them out first. Here they are when it is candy.

Here they are when its bad!

Now they are spitting it out!

And this is what color it turned their tongues.

Logan loved to climb up this big slide but then would get too scared to actually go down. So he just climbed up and down.

Eating a cheetoh.

Logan loves watermelon. He walked around for probably twenty minutes eating this piece of watermelon. He would stop, squat, take a bite, and start walking around again.

Fireworks!!

Our weekend started out great. David went golfing with his dad and brothers so Logan and I went out to breakfast with my most of my family. Then we really pretty much just relaxed the whole rest of the day til it was time for us to go to the bbq and swimming at my Aunt Kate and Uncle Michaels house. That is always so much fun to do. I of course didn't bring my camera so none of it got documented. It was for sure fun though.

Today we had a pretty relaxing day. David had work so Logan and I went shopping with my mom. Later we went to a little neighborhood party in my parents neighborhood. Although it wasn't little. Some people in their ward own a fireworks stand and decided a couple years ago to do a big neighborhood thing with all the extra fireworks. It was absolutely amazing!! We started off eating and then they did parachutes and streamers for the kids. Once it got dark it really got cool. I would say over 300 fireworks were done. At one point they had 18 fountains going at once. They did awesome coordinations with fireworks, fireworks that went in the air, and a grand finale. I have never seen such a cool "Legal" fireworks show. We will definitely be making it a tradition to go to that every year. Logan loved it too. He of course did his one handed "Woo", but he also started saying "Oooh, Ahhh" after each firework. The whole firework show lasted almost three hours. It was really fun!

Waiting for the show to start.

David, Logan, and Layne in between fireworks. Logan had so much fun chasing Layne around.

Some of the fountain fireworks.

In the air fireworks. David said these ones were called Roman Candles. It was cool about thirty people lined up and they all went off pretty much the same time. There were other air fireworks that were really fun too!

This is the grand finale. They took all the extra little fireworks and put them in one huge pile and lit it. It was a HUGE flame. We could feel it from a couple houses down. This was definitely a fun night!

Movies on the Lane

In Washington DC during the summer there is an activity called Movies on the Mall. They show movies on the mall and anyone can come and watch a movie while outside. Since my grandparents are now back from Washington DC my grandpa decided he wanted to start an activity that is similar. So last night was the first Movie on the Lane. My uncle Michael and aunt Kate have a big blow up screen so we could watch the movie outside. It was so much fun. The featured movie was The Princess Bride. We brought blankets, drinks, and treats. It was a great first fun. For next week we will definitely know more of what to bring. Like pillows, jackets, jammies, and maybe even an air mattress. This will be a very fun summer activity. Next Monday the movie will be Holes which will also be a lot of fun. Thanks grandma and grandpa for such a fun activity. We can't wait for the weeks to come!!

I also need to just update on Logan's weight. We went to the Dr. today and he gained a pound. Woo Hoo!! He is now in the 5th percentile and we don't have to go back til he is two!

The blow up movie screen.

Logan pretending to watch the movie but really playing with a cell phone.

I kept trying to take Logan's picture but the flash was so bright so he kept covering his eyes!

4th of July!

We had a very nice relaxing 4th of July. It all started out when I had to be up at 5:30 to go set up for our Stake Freedom Breakfast. Not so relaxing, but after I was done with that my wonderful sisters came and got Logan so that I could take a nap and David could go help clean the church. A little bit later we went to my parents house to get Logan. David has a garden at my parents house and loves working on it with my dad. My dad was making a drip system for their stuff to grow better so David decided to not go to the fair with us so he could help my dad. So my sister Hilary, Logan and I went to the Sandy fair. And I must say it was pretty lame. I think they had already put all the activities for kids away except the inflatables which Logan won't go on. So we looked at all the booths and I feel like there were half as many booths this year. Oh well we still got some pretty good deals and some good ideas for crafts. After that we went and got African Ice snow cones. They are the best snow cone around! About an hour later we went home and did snapper/pops fireworks with Logan and he thought it was hilarious. He liked to step on them best. Now came time to go swimming. It was so nice. We hadn't been swimming in a month so it was so nice to get in the pool. The barbeque we had was wonderful as usual and then came the fireworks. We usually do what is called the ring of fire. The kids hold hands and dance around the fountains chanting "Ring of Fire, Ring of Fire". Well this year was a little different. This year they did the Slide of Fire. They put the fireworks in the pool and someone would go down the slide over the firework. It was quite entertaining. Logan loved the fireworks. He thought they were so funny. After each firework he would raise up one arm and yell "WOOO". I thought for sure he would hate them. That ended our day and it was so nice. I love the 4th of July. I love the patriotism, the colors, and the BBQ's. I am so grateful to live in a country where I am free!

At the fair they had a firetruck and this thing to pose in. Logan did not enjoy it.

Logan with his monkey leash. Before I had Logan I was so anti leash. I thought it looked ridiculous. I think anyone who thinks this way has never had a child that doesn't want to be in a stroller and is very rambunctious. I don't think I would ever do a regular leash but this monkey one is so cute cause its also a little backpack. Logan loved that he could get down and play.

18 Month Stats

Yesterday we had Logan's 18 month well baby check. His stats as of now are:

Weight: 20 lbs. 11 oz. 1-2 percentile
Height: 31 in. 11th percentile
Head Circumference: 18 1/2 64th percentile

So we figure he is short skinny and smart. His weight is a concern however. He pretty much weighs the same as he did at his last appointment which was three months ago. He did have the stomach flu a month and a half ago, and has been teething really bad. He didn't eat very well for about two weeks. He has been eating well again for a week now though. So we have another appointment in two weeks so we can see if he gains anything. If not we have to do some tests to see if he has any iron deficiencies or thyroid problems or anything else. I am not too concerned. I think its just because of teething and he is just plain little. I don't think he has been above the 5th percentile in weight since he was three months old. Not that its a good thing but I know he is healthy. The dr. told us to start giving him carnation in his milk so that is what we will be doing to help him gain weight. I am also very relieved that his head circumference percentile is lower than last time. It was starting to get off the curve but is right back on it now. Pretty much he is a healthy boy he just has to gain weight.

A Weekend of Firsts

First off I need to write about my little brother. He got home from his mission a week and a half ago and it is so good to have him back. We missed him so much. At the airport was his first time meeting Logan and Logan loves him so much already. We are so glad grateful for the blessings we received on his mission and are so glad to have him back home with us!

Logan had such a busy weekend. My parents planned on taking Logan and Layne camping this weekend but things came up and they ended up not being able to go. They decided to take them to the Bees game instead. My brothers friend Ashley is a Honey Bee for the bees so she got them tickets. Logan's first baseball game. They said he had so much fun. Both boys liked to run up and down the stairs, and Logan tried to escape a few times. They both got to pick a treat at the game. Layne picked cotton candy and Logan picked popcorn. They were both such good sharers. I am so grateful to my parents for taking Logan. They not only took him to the baseball game but they let him sleepover too, so that David and I could have the night to ourselves and sleep in. It was wonderful! Thank you very much mom and dad!

The boys in the car on the way to the game. Logan is so silly around Layne!

My dad and the boys at the game. It rained and this pretty rainbow came. Layne said "Wow Brama (what he calls my mom)a real rainbow. I have never seen a real rainbow before." Cute boy.

The Bees Bee.

Today Logan went to nursery for the first time! Woohoo! We could hardly wait for this day to come. He is a very curious and rambunctious little boy and I don't think we have listened to a Sunday School lesson in two months. He did so awesome. He went right in and didn't even cry. When we went to pick him up his nursery leader said, "He was so good! Does he go to day care?" I was happy to say that he is just a very good little boy. Not that good kids can't cry, but I was sure proud of Logan for not crying. Hopefully it stays that way!

Logan in his church clothes just before leaving for church. I had to document his first time going to nursery.

His last first of the weekend was his first haircut! I know his first haircut at 18 months. Most kids have probably had quite a few by now. His hair is very thin though and there is not much of it. He had a lot in the back that was curly half the time and scraggly half the time. So we decided 18 months was a good time for him to get his first haircut. He did not enjoy it. He kept squirming and we had to keep giving him candy. Thank you so much mom for cutting it. He looks so cute! He is turning into a little boy and not my baby anymore. It makes me kind of sad. I even got a little teary eyed as my wonderful mother cut his hair. I can't wait for more firsts with our little guy!!

The before picture. It is definitely not a good before picture. David had already gotten his hair wet and Logan was not cooperating.

The after picture. I know it doesn't look much different than the before but it is!!

Father's Day!!

I couldn't let this day go by without posting about what a wonderful father David is. He is such an amazing man. David goes to work nearly everyday and works so hard so that I get to stay home with our wonderful little boy. He never complains about it. When David gets home from work we can see his shadow through the window and Logan always get so excited and starts jumping and yelling Dada. He loves when David get home. When he does get home I know he is tired but he still comes in and starts playing with Logan right away. My favorite times are watching the two of them play and laugh, and with David as a dad Logan laughs a lot. He changes diapers, gets Logan in jammies, brushes his teeth, and puts Logan in bed. I appreciate all of that so much. He never ever complains when I ask him to change a diaper. He always says I go to work all day but when I get home my job is to be a dad. I love that he feels that way. Every morning when Logan is awake before me, he gives him a bath and breakfast and watches him so that I can sleep and extra hour. Seriously he is an absolutely amazing man. I am so lucky that I get to be married to him for eternity and that he is such an amazing father to our child. I love you so much babe! Thank you for being such a wonderful man!

I also want to say how much I love my own father. He is such a great man. He is such a hard worker. My dad is also so supportive. He loved watching my brothers play sports but would also come to dance, choir, and band performances. My dad is so shy, but when you get to know him he is so funny! Like I have said before my dad and Logan have an amazing little relationship. My dad loves Logan so much and vice versa. When we are at my parents house Logan would rather be with my dad than anyone else, and my dad lets Logan do pretty much whatever he wants. He will follow Logan around for hours on end just going where Logan wants to go. I just want to thank my dad for being such a great father to me and now a great grandfather to Logan. We love you and appreciate all you do for us!

New Family Pictures

As I said in my last post, last week we went to Wheeler Farm to get Quinney family pictures taken. I think ours turned out really good considering Logan would not cooperate at all!! He just wanted to be down and playing. We didn't get any good pictures of just Logan so we will do another little shoot for his 18 month pictures. I just thought I would post a few that turned out pretty good.

Our little family.

The Quinney boys have a hard time posing for pictures. David does pretty good though. The sun was in our eyes in this picture but I still think it turned out not too bad. T this point we had been taking pictures for a couple hours.

The whole family. It took so long to get us all up in that tree but the pictures turned out really good.

My favorite boys walking to the car. My favorite pictures are always the ones with just my two guys!

Logan vs. the Duck

Yesterday we went to Wheeler Farm to get Quinney family pictures taken. My sister took them and did an awesome job! Toward the end there were some people there with brand new baby ducks and they were so nice to let the kids play with them. The kids had so much fun and my sister got some great pictures of the kids playing with the ducks. My sister in law told her daughter to hold the duck like a ball. Logan heard ball and these pictures explain what he thought he should. He really did love the ducks! The face on my sister in law throughout each picture is priceless!
