26-23

We have been so lucky to have been able to go to all of the BYU home games this year (Thank you Grandpa and Grandma). And this game was a great way to end the season. It was a great game. We were stressed and yelling for a lot of the time, but our sore throats and pounding heads were totally worth it. Go Cougars!

Nature Turkeys

It starts to get hard trying to find something to do for playdate every single week. Some weeks the kids just play together while we talk, but this week we really wanted to do something fun. Leslie went online and found a really cute and fun activity. Nature Turkeys. To start off we went on a nature walk around the neighborhood. We needed to find a lot of leaves and some pinecones. The kids loved it. They loved finding different leaves that were different colors. Logan just picked up random things, but he was the bag holder and loved that. After our walk we went back to my mom's house and started making our turkeys. All you do is glue the leaves onto computer paper to look like the turkey feathers. After those dry you get a long pinecone and glue it on to be the turkeys head. We found with that a hot glue gun would have worked better. Then you just cut out little eyes, beak, and the red jiggly thing and glue those on the pine cone and then you have these really cute turkeys!

This is just the "feathers".

And the finished product. Logan wanted to help Layne with his so I ended up doing Logan's. Next year when we try it again I hope he will want to do his own.

Halloween

Our Halloween was so much fun! Logan absolutely loved it this year. First we went to my parents ward trunk or treat. Logan would say trick or treat at every car, but was not way into it. He was a little shy, but loved getting the candy. Since Layne didn't go to the trunk or treat later that night we all went around my parents neighborhood. I figured we would only go to about 5 housed, but Logan loved it! He would run from house to house yelling trick or treat and then politely say thank you after he got his candy. We ended up doing the whole neighborhood and he got quite the candy stash! Holidays are for sure more fun with kids!

On Sunday we went and did our annual Johnson family Halloween party at my grandparents house. It was so great having my grandparents back from DC this year. My grandpa put together an awesome spook alley. It really was scary. There were three phases. The first was in the basement. If you passed that stage you could do the next which was in the backyard. If you passed the backyard phase then you could go to the abandoned house across the street. I am proud to say I passed all three phases and it really was spooky! Great way to make a comeback grandpa! All in all it was a great holiday!

Getting ready to go out trick or treating. He wanted to leave so badly so I did not get a good picture of him.

Fall Activities

We had a busy week this last week. This year my dad and David grew awesome gardens. My dad decided he wanted to grow pumpkins for the grandkids. We soon discovered that one pumpkin was taking all the nutrients from the other pumpkins. Lots of pumpkins would grow to be about 3 inches and then all of a sudden start dying. Except one! We picked this pumpkin last Sunday and it was huge and so heavy! In height it was just a little smaller than Logan, but weighed more than twice as much! 55 lbs!!

Then on Thursday we went to Emily's school for their Halloween party. We have been putting Logan's costume on him once a week for the last two months to try to get him to not cry when he would wear it. It paid off. He wore it the whole time and didn't cry once. We had lots of fun. Layne was there too and Logan was like his little puppy dog. Their favorite thing to do was the ghost/pumpkin bowling. They also made witch hands out of popcorn and played ring toss with a big spider. It was lots of fun. Thank you for letting us come Emily!

Then on Friday we went to a carnival at a local farm. It was a lot of fun. They had hay rides and a bounce house, vendors, face painting, and games. I really wanted Logan to get his face painted because we had never done it before. I planned on it being his turn and him freaking out and not doing it. But that didn't happen. He sat so still and did awesome! And to make it better right before I was about to give her our tickets we won a raffle and got free face painting. Then we went on the hay ride around the farm and Logan did awesome on that too. We then played some games and all the kids went on the bounce house. Including Logan. Again I expected him to go in and scream. But he didn't. He loved it. This kid is sure growing up and doing a lot that he never would before. He is at the best stage right now!! We had a very fall festive week and it was so much fun!!

Waiting for the hay ride! The Aulai kids are so awesome with Logan and he asks for them often throughout the week.

Playing a fishing game. He played three games and won two pairs of fake vampire teeth and a pirate eye patch.

Which Witch is Which?

For playdate this week we decided to go to Gardener Village to see the witches. It was absolutely perfect weather! The kids had so much fun. Last year when we went they were all either very scared or at least weary of going near the witches. This year they were much braver. Logan was terrified of the witch that moved but the other two got pretty close. Until looking at the last witch when Annie was all of a sudden scared. It could have been because of the fake spider next to the witch. Anyway, we had so much fun going in all the little shops and walking around spotting the witches all around. We will definitely be going back in the next week if the weather stays nice to take real pictures of Logan. It was so festive!

Just drinking his juice.

They were so good at posing for me to take pictures.

This is the witch Logan was scared of. You can tell he is trying to run away cause he is barely in the shot.

And this is the one Annie was scared of.

The Ducks on the Farm go Quack Quack Quack

On Wednesday we decided to go to the farm for playdate. It was perfect weather for this kind of activity and with the crummy weather just around the corner it was nice to be able to do that again. The kids had so much fun. With Logan getting older he loves to run around and play with the kids, and was actually excited to feed the ducks and chickens. He was running around like crazy at the ducks yelling "Quack Quack". We had so much fun. I am so sad that pretty soon our playdates are going to have to consist of indoor activities.

Its My Potty and I'll Go if I Want to!

Today Logan took his diaper off for the first time. So we decided, knowing he is not ready but trying anyway, to have him try to go to the bathroom on the toilet. David carried him upstairs and put him on the toilet. Logan did nothing. David took him off the toilet and showed him how to do it, then asked Logan "Can you do that?" And then Logan said "YEAH!!", and started going to the bathroom on David's foot. So to get Logan startled enough to stop "going" David yelled his name and said "Wait!" Logan stopped and David put him on the toilet and said "Ok finish going", but he wouldn't. Of course he does it while not on the toilet, but when on gets stage fright! He is turning into such a little toddler!

Canyons

Every Labor Day we go up to the canyons with my Dads side of the family. It has always been one of our favorite traditions. We head up in the morning and get breakfast all ready. This year after we ate the kids were exploring when all of a sudden we hear what sounds like fireworks. I look up and there are huge rocks flying down the hill at three of the kids. There were more people above them that were trying to come down but them doing that was causing these rocks to come down the hill fast. One of my cousins got hit in the head with a big rock and was bleeding a lot. David ran up and helped one down and was blocking the rocks from hitting another. Then my brother Mark ran up and helped the other one down while David was still blocking rocks. Finally everyone got down safely but it was quite scary. My one cousin got hit in the head, another in the back but not hurt too badly, and David got hit in the arm. Luckily nothing worse happened.

After all of that we played in in the river a little and then went to the cave. The cave is such a fun tradition. You have to make it to the back of the cave and kiss it and then you have good luck for a whole year. David and I both did it so hopefully this year will bring lots of luck. We tried to get Logan to go in but he just screamed. I am sure glad we still go this tradition every year. We definitely look forward to it.

Later we went to Provo with my sisters and Lincoln and went to Tucanos for lunch. David thought it was delicious, I thought it was ok. After that we went swimming and had a dive contest and David won biggest splash for the seventh time in a row. Although, this year he had some competition! We had a great Labor Day, but we are so sad for summer to end!
