Brooklyn's Blessing

Brooklyn's blessing on Sunday was absolutely wonderful. We had so many family and friends that were so supportive and David gave her a beautiful blessing. I am so grateful to have a husband who was able and worthy to be able to do that. We also had such amazing weather, that we were able to be outside to enjoy the company of everyone. Brooklyn looked so beautiful and I am so sad she only gets to wear it one more time for pictures. I am going to blog about her two month appointment on Thursday or Friday, but I just needed to write about how much I love this little girl. She is such an amazing blessing in our life and I could not imagine her not being in our family. We all love her so much and are so grateful for her!

Brooklyn in her beautiful dress. David's parents gave her that bracelet for Christmas and I didn't get a picture, but her booties she is wearing were crocheted by our bishops wife. Have I mentioned how much I love our ward? I do!

A close up of our gorgeous little girl!

Our family of 4. I am not sure why we could not get Logan to smile normal. Maybe because he rarely gets naps on Sunday anymore because of 1:00 church.
I just want to say thank you so much to all of our family. We are so blessed to have the supportive and generous families that we do. Thank you so much for making the day even more special!

Funny Boy!

To start this funny story Logan for some reason hadn't had his hepatitis A shot and we are signing him up for preschool so he needed to get it. I took him yesterday and he was so brave and didn't even cry. I was one proud mama. That brings us to today.
While driving home from Pirate Island, Emily would ask the kids if they wanted to go places they saw. Example: Who wants to go to the mall...

Emily: Who wants to go to Rib City?
Logan: I do.
Emily: Who wants to go to Liberty Land?
Logan: I do.
Leslie: Who wants to go to the Dr. to get a shot?

Logan wasn't listening.

Emily: Who wants to go the the Dr.?
Logan: I do.
Emily: To get a shot?
Logan: Lincoln does.

Planet Play/ The Zoo/ Safe Kids Fair

We had a very busy and fun week last week, and instead of doing 3 different posts (which I really should do) I am just doing one. We started the week out by going to Planet Play (formerly Incredible Pizza) on Presidents day. Emily and Hilary had bought gift certificates on City Deals and we were worried they would eventually stop taking the coupons since they changed ownership. It was so much fun. The highlight of the day was when they did the dance contest. Logan, Layne, Lincoln, Ari, and Kenna all did it. Little did I know it was going to be a half hour of line dancing. It was hilarious watching Logan trying to line dance and to learn all the dance moves. His favorite was the Macarena.

On Wednesday for playdate we decided to take advantage of the last free zoo day until next winter. I was pretty cold but the kids had a lot of fun. We didn't have a lot of time so we told each kid they could pick one animal they really wanted to see. Layne picked an alligator, Annie picked the tigers, and Logan picked the giraffes. He is a kid after my own heart. Great way to spend playdate.

Finally, on Saturday Hilary and I took Logan to the Safe Kids Fair. We got there pretty early and because of the snow it wasn't too crowded. We were in and out within an hour. Logan's favorite things were the firetruck, tumble bus, and all of the police vehicles. He also touched a snake, but wouldn't pet the cute bunny. Silly boy. We had a great time doing a little date with just him.

My Amazing Husband!

I can't let the month of February end without mentioning my amazing husband. He had his birthday on the 12th and it was such a fun day. I of course got no pictures because well I am just not good at remembering to take pictures. That and its a pain to bring along my too big camera. He is such an amazing man. Top 10 reasons I love him...
-He is an amazing husband and makes me so happy.

-He is the best father ever! My absolute favorite times are listening to him and Logan laugh and play.

-He works so hard for our family. I am so grateful that he wants me to be a stay at home mom as much as I want to be a stay at home mom.

-Seriously, he is one of the handiest people I know. I am so lucky to have a husband who can do a lot of the work needed on our house by himself. It sure does save us a lot of money.

-He is probably the funniest person I know and makes me and Logan laugh all the time.

-He is so generous. He is so willing to help anyone and without ever complaining.

-He is so diligent in his church calling. He has two right now. Deacons quorum adviser and ward clerk. Both very time consuming. And while I complain every week that he is busy 4 out of 7 days of the week he just does what he is supposed to do.

-He is working and doing school which I so much appreciate. School is a big deal and I am so glad he thinks so too.

-He is very supportive of everything I do.

-He is super handsome!

I don't know how I got so lucky to be married to such an amazing man. The last 9 years have been the best ever and I am so glad that I get to be with this man for eternity!

First Time at Church

Yesterday was Brooklyn's first time going to church. She looked too cute to not take a picture. And of course Logan was handsome as ever. I also can't believe she is already 4 weeks old!

2 weeks

On Monday we had Brooklyn's 2 week Dr. appointment. It went really well. This little lady already weighed 8 oz more than her birth weight. You can tell she is a good eater by looking at those wonderfully chubby cheeks. We love this girl so much! She is seriously such a good baby. We couldn't have asked for better.
2 week stats:
8 lbs. 4 oz- 49%
20 1/2 inches- 58%
Head circumference- 50%
She is pretty much an average baby!

First Dentist Trip

Logan had his first trip to the dentist. He had been complaining that his teeth hurt when we brushed them so we knew it was past time to take him. To my surprise he had no cavities. He did so great too and didn't fight it at all! I am so proud of my little guy.

Our wonderful baby girl decided to come early. She is absolutely amazing and is such a good baby. For journaling sake I am going to write the birth story.
I started having contractions on Wednesday night. Nothing consistent but more than I ever had with Logan. They continued on the next few days but still nothing major. On Sunday morning I was having contractions every 6-7 minutes for 4 hours and then they stopped. I was so disappointed but really didn't think this baby was coming for 8 more days. I didn't feel up to church, but still went to my parents for dinner that night. My mom kept saying you are going to have her before you appointment on Wednesday. I tried not to get my hopes up and still just planned on my C section.
Monday morning I woke up at 4:30 with contractions every 2-3 minutes lasting about 45 seconds. After an hour and a half they were getting pretty uncomfortable and my breathing through them woke David up. Around 6:15 I decided to call my mom to see what to do since I never went into labor on my own with Logan. She said to go in. We decided to call the hospital just in case and they said to come in as well. We got ready and took Logan over to my parents. We got to the hospital around 7:30 and they checked me and I was only a 1 1/2. Not really a surprise to me. We just sat around for a while and at 8:30 they told us to go walk around the hospital for an hour and a half. So we did. After that they came in and checked me again. Still a 1 1/2. I was definitely in labor but my contractions were not lasting long enough. They were consistantly 2-3 minutes but still only about 30 seconds long. My Dr. was debating on whether or not to send me home to labor so I could be more comfortable. By this time though I was beyond uncomfortable. My contractions were getting bad. Around 1:30 they checked me again and I was still a 1 1/2. By this point I was screaming through my contractions. I cannot even begin to imagine how people do this without medication. They decided to keep me and gave me some pain medication in an iv and by 2:00 I finally had an epidural. It was so great to not be feeling the contractions. They checked me again about an hour later and I was only a 2. They decided to break my water and after they did that I was finally at a 3! There was also meconium in the water so that was something to consider.
So they decided to just wait and see what happened with me on the epidural and my water broken. Around 4 I was feeling my contractions again so they came and put stronger medicine in. It didn't help much, but it was much better than it had been. They came in and checked my again at 4:30 and I was still a 3. Brooklyn's heart rate was also getting low with contractions so I was on oxygen for a while. We started talking about c section at this point. He said they would check me again at 6:30 and see what was going on. So they checked me at 6:30 and I was still a 3. My Dr. said he thought she might only be 6 1/2 pounds and that I should be able to push that through but there was no guarantee. He asked if I wanted them to put pitocin in to see if that would make my contractions longer, but at that point it had been 14 hours and I was still only a 3. I was done. We opted for the c section. They started the process for that and we were in the delivery room by 7:45. They started the surgery at 8:03 and she was born at 8:10. The surgery went well while they were getting her out, but when they were putting everything back in I was in so much pain they were going to put me to sleep. They were almost done so luckily that didn't need to happen. Turns out she was a lot bigger than they thought and I probably wouldn't have been able to push her through. We can't believe all the long dark hair she has. Definitely opposite of her brother.
My sisters brought Logan to see her soon after and he loved her so much from the minute he saw her. We love her so much and are so grateful that she is here and she is healthy. And I am also especially grateful that she came early!
Us as a family of 4. We didn't get a great picture of the 4 of us.

Proud mommy and daddy!

We all love her so much!

He really loves her a lot. He is starting to get more jealous and more needy which we knew would happen.

Ready to go home. We are so happy to have her home. It has been great. She is such a great baby. She rarely cries and is such a great nurser which is a huge relief to me.

12 Days

I asked my Dr. if he would just do my c-section yesterday so that our little girl could have the birthday 1-11-11. He said no, but how cool would that have been. Our little girl will be here at the latest 12 days from today. We have the c-section scheduled, but we are still hoping for a VBAC delivery. I am not really thinking that will happen, but at my appointment on Monday I was dilated to a 1. Not really something to get too excited about, but it gives me a little hope. In the next week I will be doing what I can to get this process started. It starts tomorrow with bowling. So here is to hoping Brooklyn will get here sooner, but its nice to know that no matter what in 12 days we will have her here with us. We can't wait!!

Christmas

We had a great Christmas! We started out decorating cookies for Santa on Christmas Eve.

Logan picked out all of the blue M & M's and put eyes on the trees. Except he gave one tree green eyes.

Then we went to Red Lobster with David's family. I am not sure why I didn't take any pictures there. Maybe cause we were trying to get Logan to not be so wild the whole time.
Next we went to my grandparents for the big Christmas Eve Party. Here are my two cute boys before the talent show started.

Logan singing Jingle Bells for the 2nd year in a row. I wonder if he will sing that again next year or if he will branch out and try something different.

Logan telling Santa he wants a motorcycle Christmas morning. He made sure to tell Santa he would be safe and only ride on the sidewalks and not the street. A big improvment from earlier on in the week when he said he was going to ride his motorcycle to Grandma and Grandpa's house in the street all by himself without mom and dad.

Family picture on the stairs. I am not sure why David and I got put in the front. It will definitely not be like that next year.

Our little family on the stairs.

Logan walking out of his room to see what Santa brought him.

Of course I forgot to take pictures while he opened gifts. We did get video which will have to do. He ended up getting his motorcycle and cool helmet that he wore for a couple hours after opening it.

He loves his motorcycle. He was so excited to show it off to everyone at Grandma and Grandpa Johnson's before breakfast.

And of course I took no other pictures. Our Christmas was great though. Breakfast at my parents, lunch at David's parents, a much needed nap at home, and then Tangled with some of my family. We are so greatful to be able to spend the holidays with both of our families. It was great this year that Logan was able to somewhat understand why we truly celebrate Christmas. If you ask why we have Christmas he says because Jesus was born. I know next year will be even more wonderful!
