Summer Fun Pt. 1

We have had a crazy busy summer.  We had a lot of things we wanted to do and not a whole lot of time.  One thing we always love to do is the aquarium.  Its so nice because its close, and we have annual passes.  We are so excited for the new aquarium to open in draper.

The boys were a lot more brave than me and Brooklyn.  I don't ever dare touch anything.  We have had annual passes for 4 years and I still haven't ever touched the sting rays!

Shark Teeth!!

Row, Row, Row your Boat!

Brooklyn is a scaredy cat and wouldn't stand next to the penguin her size.  It freaked her out for some reason.

We also went downtown a couple times.  The kids loved taking the train.

On this day we went to the Gateway food court and each kid got to pick where they wanted to eat.

Right outside Energy Solutions Arena for Pioneer Day they had a fun reenactment thing.  They boys got to learn about how people did things a long time ago.  This guy is a blacksmith and was making horseshoes.

Learning about war guns.

Going on a fun wagon ride around downtown.

They also got to ride horses and grandma bought them both a fun bow and arrow to remember the day.  Brooklyn was there too, but she was too hot and tired to enjoy any of it.

We also went to the fountains that day to play.  The boys had lots of fun.  Brooklyn, not so much.

July 3rd and 4th

We had a great 4th of July holiday.  It started out on the 3rd.  We went to Seven Peaks in the morning.  Unfortunately, that is the only time we have been this summer and I didn't even take any pictures.  After Seven Peaks we went to my grandparents house for the annual 3rd of July sleepover.

The kids had so much riding these atv's all night.

David setting up the sound system for the outside movie.  He is seriously amazing.  There isn't much he can't do.  I am so lucky to be able to spend eternity with someone so amazing!

Brooklyn's turn on the atv.  She LOVES riding these.

Ready for Despicable Me.

Nice and Cozy.

We ended up not sleeping at my grandparents because we didn't really want to do the whole tent thing.  So we had a sleepover in the living room instead and I am glad we did cause it poured rain!

The next morning we started our day at the Pollyanna Fair(I think my family are the only ones who still call it that.  It's really the Sandy Fair).  The first thing we did was wait in line to get Logan's face painted.  He decided to get a cool spider web.

Before

After

The rest of the time Logan spent his time on the inflatables.

Brooklyn played a couple games and went in the bounce house once and then she was done.

So she spent her time eating a snow cone and making funny faces.

David decided to come join us to eat a turkey leg.

After the fair we went home and relaxed for a little bit.  Then we ended the night at Mike and Kate's house for swimming, bbq, and fireworks.  My highlight for the day was when Logan finally swam on his own.  He took lessons from my cousin Jenna for two years, but just acted so afraid to ever swim on his own without a life jacket.  Finally, we told him if he would just try we would take him to Chuck E. Cheese.  He did it.  And then he did it all night.  Now he loves swimming without his life jacket.  He will even jump off the diving board and go down the slide with nothing.  He is one brave kid!

Preschool Graduate

I cannot believe Logan has graduated from preschool.  It is such a bittersweet thing.  I am so sad for him to be growing up and leaving all of the good friends, but I am so excited for all of the adventures he is going to have as a kindergartener.  He had his preschool graduation a couple of weeks ago and it was so much fun.  They sang a few songs, recited the Pledge of Allegiance, and showed us pictures they drew of what they want to be when they grow up.  There was also a fun slideshow of the kids that their teachers sent home with us.

A fun stick song they did.

This is our favorite song they did.  No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed.  They had the cutest actions.

Blasting off to Kindergarten!!

This is a picture of him on his first day of school.  He looks so little.

And his last day of school.  He has grown up so much this year and I know he will do great things.  He is such a kind and generous kid and I know he will do so great going to kindergarten.  Thank you so much to his preschool teachers who have been so amazing!  Especially my sister Emily who was his main Preschool teacher.   She has done so much for Logan and our family and I appreciate it all so much!

Cougars

About a month ago we we got to go to a BYU kickoff thing.  We had so much fun.  Right when we got there Logan, Layne, and Jensen tried on some football pads, jerseys, and helmets.  Lucky for us, Cosmo came over right when they had the uniforms on and we got an awesome picture.  Logan loves Cosmo and even wants to be him for Halloween this year.

They had facepainting.  Apparently logan was supposed to be a dragon.  Not what it looks like to me!

We got to meet Bronco and members from several of the sports teams including football!  We are so excited for football season!

They had a fun photo booth, soccer, a running course, and fun swag.  We had so much fun and hope they come back each year so we can make this a tradition!

Easter Sunday

Easter morning was nice and relaxing.  Since the Easter Bunny came on Saturday morning we could
just relax and enjoy our morning.  After church we started working on our egg drop for Grandma and Grandpa's house.  We thought for sure we had a winner.  After Brooklyn's nap we headed over to the Grandparents for the Easter festivities.

Logan and Brooklyn in their Easter clothes.  Logan was showing me the flowers he picked.

Cute cousins in their matching pink and blue.

After dinner was the egg hunt.  All of the kids love this so much.  Logan got over $8.00.  I think he had the most out of all of the cousins.  Brooklyn had around $6.00.

She loved finding eggs and shaking them.

Logan with his egg drop.  We cut open a pillow and stuck the egg inside then taped it.  We thought for sure it would last, but it didn't.  Next year for sure!

I love Easter.  I love the reason for the holiday and I love all of the traditions that I enjoyed growing up and now my kids get to enjoy them.

Easter Saturday

Even though Easter was a month and a half ago I still feel the need to blog about it.  We had a great Easter with all of our great traditions.
On Friday night we dyed Easter Eggs.  This year we decided to use KoolAid instead of dye and it worked out so well, that we will do that every year.  Logan especially liked dying eggs this year.
Dying Eggs.

Our finished eggs.  I felt like the colors were way better than with store bought dyes and smelly vinegar.

Saturday morning we woke up and found that the Easter Bunny had come.  Both kids got a swim suit, sandals, kites, a book, candy, movies, and some other little things.

Brooklyn needed to put her new swimsuit and slippers on right away.

After a relaxing morning we went bowling.  My grandparents just joined a country club and rented out the bowling alley.  It was awesome.  It looked like it was straight from the 60's.

Brooklyn loved running around the whole place.  It was great not having other people to worry about.

We even had to keep our own score.

Logan loves bowling and is actually starting to get to the point where he doesn't need the ramp.

Brooklyn also loves bowling.

It was so much fun.  I hope this bowling alley becomes our new tradition.

St. Patrick's Day

A couple of days before St. Patrick's Day, Logan's preschool was having a St. Patrick's Day party.  He has been talking about catching the Leprechaun for a month.  He has been so excited and could hardly wait for school that morning.  He was telling me that his tummy hurt because he was so excited.  Well about five minutes from the school he threw up in the car.  We turned around and went home and I felt so sad for him that he was missing such a fun party that he had been so excited for.  I told him our Leprechaun would make the actual day very special.

On Saturday night we made our Leprechaun trap.  The kids found little food/candy type things to put in the trap to lure the Leprechaun.

Our finished trap with the goodies.

I sure love these two!

The Leprechaun sure brought a lot of green and gold treats!

Cute rainbow streamers.  We had to leave this up for two days because the kids loved it so much!

That night Leslie and Emily did a scavenger hunt for the kids to find the pot of gold.

Not sure why this picture is out of order, but he also turned our milk green.

The leprechaun left us gold candy.  Unfortunately, we didn't catch him.

I think the Leprechaun made up for Logan missing his party.  Both kids had so much fun!

I want to write this for memories sake.  Logan was told by my sister that my little brother Mark is a leprechaun.  Tonight he said to her, "I think it is weird that Leprechauns don't live with other Leprechauns."  She said, "Well I think they do." and Logan said, "No Mark lives with Ashley."  I love that he thinks this and is too nervous to even ask Mark about it.  I hope that magic lasts a long time!
