Soccer and Football

At the beginning of September, Logan started his second season of soccer.  I really haven't gotten any great pictures, but he is having so much fun and has really improved since the spring.  We are really liking AYSO and are glad that each team gets to be their own color.  Our team name is the Orange Ninjas.  They haven't won any games yet, but in the last game Logan made his first goal ever!  We were so proud of him and he was so proud of himself.

His jersey is huge on him.  Its the smallest they had and it still drowns him.  He is constantly pulling his shorts up.

Brooklyn loves watching him play.  She tries to go on the field so she can play too.

After Logan's first soccer game of the season we took Logan and Lincoln to the BYU game.  Several months ago we got the Cosmo Kids Club for Logan and my sister got one for Lincoln.  The boys were so excited to be able to go to the game.

Because of the kids club, after the game we were able to go down on the field.  When we went down there we found Logan's cousin Braden.

Laying on the letters on the field.  It was very cool to be on the field.  None of us had ever done it before.

Grandpa Quinney was at the game with Braden, Jason, and Heather so he lifted Logan up to almost touch the field goal post.

We had so much fun at the game and get to take the boys to another one at the end of the month.  They are so excited!  It will be a great fall season of soccer and football!

Labor Day

I have so much to catch up on, but I think each thing deserves its own post.  September started out with our annual Labor Day Breakfast up in the canyon.  It didn't dissapoint as usual.  Logan started out by playing by the river.  A few years back the kids discovered if you get the rocks wet it makes "war paint".  They painted their faces and then just played by the water.

Then, we ate breakfast and headed off the the cave.  We weren't sure how Brooklyn would do, but she went in and was a trooper.

Brooklyn and Daddy in the cave.  My mom gave the kids these headlights and they were a big hit.  Even with David.

Logan in the cave.  We have a tradition that if we kiss the back of the cave we will have good luck for the whole year.  Logan even kissed the back this year!

Mommy and Brooklyn climbing out of the cave.

The Labor Day activities are always so fun.  After the canyon we just relaxed at home until we went to Mike and Kate's for the annual jump and dive contest.  I was a judge this year and lacked picture taking.  It was a great contest though.  Logan even did his first front flip off the diving board.  I am so sad that summer is over.  But, now that it is September I guess I will just embrace the cooler weather and all that comes with it!

First Day of Preschool

A couple of weeks ago Logan had his first day of preschool.  He was so excited to start school again and to be able to see his friends.  I can't believe he only has one more year of preschool and then he will be in Kindergarten.  Good thing he still has a year, because I am not ready for that!

We got to the school a little early to take some pictures.  Here are some of his favorite things.

I love this kid so much.  He is probably the sweetest, smartest, funniest little boy ever!  I just cannot get enough of him and wish time could just stop for a little bit.  I know he is going to love his last year of preschool, and I am going to enjoy having him not going to school every day.

New York

A couple of months ago my mom decided she wanted to go to New York to see Newsies on Broadway.  Luckily, I was able to go too!  So two months later me, my mom, Hilary, Leslie, and my Aunt Debbie went to New York.
On our first day there we headed to Times Square.

We saw the Centennial Ball that dropped in 2007.
David snuck Logan's wuggle pet in my suitcase, so we decided to bring it along to get pictures taken to show Logan.

It rained pretty much the whole day on the first day.  Lucky for us there were people selling umbrellas every 5 feet.

My mom surprised us by finding out where the FRIENDS building is.  We got lost several times and it took us 2 1/2 hours to find it, but it was one of my favorite things.  Anyone who knows me, knows FRIENDS is my all time favorite show!

To end our first night there we went and say Newsies on Broadway.  It was amazing!  Thank you so much Mom for making it possible for us to go!

This is proof that I rode a New York subway...A lot!

A big thing on my list was to go to Serendipity to get a frozen hot chocolate.  It did not disappoint.

We went on a bus tour and while on the tour we were looking at all the buildings and then all of a sudden the Manhattan Temple was just there in the middle of huge skyscrapers!  It was amazing.

One of Logan's favorite movies right now is Night at the Museum 1 and 2.  I had to get a picture of the Natural History Museum.  And it just happened to have this huge spider on the door.

My mom wanted to make sure we went to the Bronx so that she can say she has been to all 5 burrows of New York City.  When asking for directions people looked at us like we were crazy for going to the Bronx. 5 white ladies.  Again lucky for us, Yankees Stadium is right when you get off the Subway right when you get into the Bronx.  So we got off took pictures of Yankee Stadium and didn't even have to get off the subway platform.

It was such a great trip.  We stayed out late most nights since New York is the city that never sleeps.  We ate delicious New York cheesecake.  We ate at KATZ Deli (The Deli in When Harry Met Sally).  We went on several bus tours that gave us great information about the city.  We ate in Little Italy and it was some of the best pasta we have ever eaten (and of course one of my favorites, gelato!).  My aunt wanted me to see some cockroaches and rats on the Subway.  I didn't see any the whole time...until the last day when I saw two rats and two cockroaches.  We bought purses on Canal Street.  I should have taken pictures of that.  Its crazy on Canal Street.  On the last day there was a fun street market that was so huge we didn't even make it to the end.  We had so much fun and it was great getting away with my mom, sisters, and aunt.  Thank you so much Mom for making the whole trip possible.  You are amazing and I really had so much fun!
I also need to give a shoutout to David who took time off work to watch the kids.  I appreciate so much him making it possible for me to go on this trip!

Wicked!

The last month for us has been so busy!  We have been trying to fit in as much summer fun as possible, so there has been little time for blogging.  Actually there hasn't been much picture taking either.  One thing David and I were lucky enough to get to do is go see Wicked.  My amazing grandparents got us tickets and we couldn't wait to finally be able to see it.  It was the first time seeing it for both of us and it was absolutely amazing!  Thank you so much to my Grandpa and Grandma for such an amazing night!

18 Months!

I can't believe my baby girl is 18 months.  She is such a fun girl.  I can't imagine any little girl being any more than a diva than she is, but I couldn't imagine her any other way.  Some things about Brooklyn at 18 months:
-She loves to read books.  She looks through the book and then closes it and says amen.  Then she opens it up and does it all over.
-She talks a lot, but for a lot of words she doesn't say the last syllable of the word.  Like instead of saying juice she says jui, instead of woof she says woo.
-She can tell us what a cow, cat, dog, bird, fish, monkey, bee, sheep, horse, bear, lion, and ducks say.
-She loves to dance.
-She still loves the water.
-She is not a big fan of eating, but is getting better.
-She is such a diva and will let everyone know her opinion.
-She loves to wear shoes and likes to put them on soon after she wakes up.
-She absolutely hates bugs.  She will cry and say eww whenever she sees one.  Even if it is just drawn on paper.
-She hates to be buckled in her carseat.  She wants to do it all by herself and screams and scratches anyone who tries to do it for her.
-She likes tv ok, but will only sit and watch for a few minutes...unless she is watching Bubble Guppies.  She is absolutely in love with that show and would watch it all day every day if I would let her.
-Whenever I ask a question like "Who wants a snack?" or "Who wants to say prayer for lunch?"  She will raise both of her hands in the air and say "ME!".
-She has acts like she hates fireworks, but I think she secretly likes them.  She cries and whines when we mention them, but when they are actually going to just sits and watches and then claps.
Her 18 months stats are: Height 29.5 inches- 2%
                                    Weight 20.6 lbs.- 15%

She really is just so much fun to have in our lives.

This is the best picture I could get of her the day she turned 18 months.  She is just too active.

Again the best one I could get of her.  This last Sunday was her first official day of nursery.  I am a nursery leader so she has been going for half of the time for the last 6 months or so, but now she is official!

4th of July

I guess I should probably blog about the 4th since it was 2 weeks ago.  Our 4th of July celebrations started on the 3rd.  We went to the annual Johnson family sleepover in my grandparents backyard.  We had a BBQ, watched a Mirror Mirror on the inflatable screen outside and slept in tents.  We had so much fun.

Brooklyn getting cozy on the grass while watching the movie.

Logan sitting in his chair watching the movie.  You can tell the flash made them both close their eyes.

I totally forgot to take pictures of Brooklyn spending her first night in a tent.  She slept great, David and I did not.  This is the next morning before we took the tent down.

Next, we went to the Sandy Fair.  Logan and Lincoln did some crafts like making their own bouncy balls and fans.

Brooklyn just hung out with everyone else while the boys did crafts.

Why is it so hard to get ONE single good picture?!

Logan had been bugging me for a couple weeks to be able to get his face painted. When it came down to it he picked a scorpion and shortly after accidentally smeared it.  He said it was itchy.

Brooklyn got this cute firework!

And of course I didn't pull my camera out the rest of the day.  We went to Matt and Melanie's for lunch and then went and saw Brave with them and Jason and Heather's family.  After the movie we went to the annual BBQ and swimming.  Dive of Fire and Slide of Fire are always so much fun to watch.  This year my Uncle Michael even jumped over an Aerial.  I don't think anyone will be able to top that!!  I love the 4th of July and love all of our great traditions!

Preschool Graduation

I can't believe Logan graduated his first year of preschool.  We are lucky enough for him to be able to go to my sister's preschool class.  She has been such a great teacher and I am so glad Logan gets to spend one more year in her class.  I was so excited for his graduation and video taped the whole thing...or so I thought. Turns out the video camera was on pause for some reason.  Good thing he still has his real preschool graduation next year.  The kids did such a great job singing their songs and doing their dances.

The cute decorations.  The theme was "Blasting off to Kindergarten". (For the kids that were actually graduating. Logan was in the 4 year old class so most of his friends are going into Kindergarten.)

The cute cake.

Logan in the middle of a song.  For some reason most of the pictures I took were dark.  Lame.

Woo hoo!!  First year down, one more to go.  I am pretty sure I will cry when he is actually graduating from preschool.

Logan and his two cute friends.

Last day of school holding his picture from his first day of school.

Busy

We have been so busy this month.  I feel like I haven't even had time to take a break.  We have been having so much fun though!

This is what I see most nights.  I love seeing them all snuggling and reading books.

We have spent time at BBQ's.  At this one they had a trampoline and Logan LOVED it.  This is on my list of things I want for our yard.

Brooklyn just liked playing on the blanket on the nice sturdy ground.

Logan and Layne have been having swim lessons.  Layne picked it up so quickly and I am hoping that pushes Logan to really start up too.  Logan has gotten really brave at the pool though, and loves jumping off the diving board and going down the slide.

We went to a really fun bike birthday party.  Logan isn't too confident on his bike so he brought his scooter. They decorated their modes of transportation and then had fun races.

Brooklyn had so much fun with the balloons and this little chair.

Something we discovered Logan really wants for Christmas is a wiggle car.  They are so cool.  I hope he gets his wish and gets one for Christmas;)

She also had fun on this princess car.

For Logan's birthday last year Hilary gave him going to the Penguin Encounter at the aquarium.  They day finally came that they got to go.  Logan had so much fun.  Thank you Hil!

Logan took all of these pictures.  They didn't get to touch the penguins, but the penguins got awfully close.  One even pecked its beak at Lincoln's shoelace.

We have been to the new splash park.  It was so great.  They have a playground for little kids, one for big kids, and the splash pad.  We can't wait to go back.

We have also been to Trafalga, bowling, lots of shopping, Logan's preschool graduation, the library swimming A LOT, and several parks.  We watched a boy in a wheelchair for a week and I painted my parents living room and hall. Logan just had his last day of school today (I will post about graduation and his last day of school later) and we can't wait for even more summer fun!
