10 Things

I feel like I really haven't had much to blog about lately. We have been good and busy with birthdays, showers, and wedding shopping, but nothing really to document. And since I am sick of seeing my last post everytime I open my blog I decided copy my moms blog and do a 10 things that made me happy this last week.

1- I loved when we were all playing tickle monster this week. David was tickling Logan and in between tickles Logan yelled, "Seriously, I don't have time for this!"

2- I loved finding a really cute sweater to wear for my little brothers wedding for $4.50! Sears had a ton of clearance!

3- I loved going and finding a temple dress with my mom and sister. I have been married for 4 1/2 years yet this was my first time buying a temple dress. I can now go to any temple and don't have to worry about renting clothes.

4- I am so happy that I for the first time ever got a runners high on my run on Saturday and ran 2 1/2 miles and probably could have gone more. It might not seem like a long run to some people, but for me it was awesome and I can't wait to run a 5K on April 17!

5- I loved that Logan was so good all week. It gives me hope that these terrible two's might be ending soon.

6- I love and am so grateful that I have opportunities to do odds and ends jobs that make it so I can earn a little extra money for our family. Its so great that these little jobs are always things that I can take Logan with me.

7- I am happy I got to go to the Night for the Arts that my grandma put on downtown. Who would've thought I would actually enjoy opera. It was also so nice to go on a date with David that wasn't just dinner and a movie.

8- I am so happy that we had such wonderful weather for most of the week. We even went to the park for playdate and played outside several times. It makes me so excited for summer!

9- This was two weeks ago, but I bought Logan some toddler bedding at Target. The next week it was on sale. I was so bummed. My mom told me she would take the receipt in and they would give me the difference back. I could not and still can't figure out why they would do that. They are out money doing that. But she went in and did it for me and I got the difference back. It always makes me happy to save money!

10- I am so happy my husband has a job that makes it so I can stay home with Logan. He works so hard and I am so grateful for him!

I really am glad I could think of 10 things to be happy about (and I know I could think of more) when there is so much sadness in the world. Thanks for the inspiration mom! If you go check out my mom's blog and become a follower she has an awesome giveaway going on. She is putting new stuff in a basket all the time until she gets 33 followers. We Waited a Long Time for These!

About 7 months ago we noticed water on our laundry room floor. David took a look at our washing machine and noticed there was a part with a crack in it. We ordered in the part and David got it fixed... for a few months. We decided since we couldn't figure out the problem we would just buy a new washing machine when we got our tax return. Starting at the end of January the leak was so bad we couldn't even use it. So when we got our tax return at the beginning of February we went to Home Depot and looked around. We had planned on not spending a lot, but found an amazing deal we couldn't give up. Our washing machine and dryer were originally $800 each, but I guess Home Depot ordered too many so they were selling them for $500 each. Plus we got $150 back from Questar and Rocky Mountain Power. Which would make them $425 each. It was supposed to be delivered the next Friday. On Monday we recieved a call saying the washing machine and dryer were on back order until March 9th. A whole month later. We were not happy since we hadn't had a washing machine in a couple weeks. David decided to call and see if they could do anything to make this up to us and she said they would take 10% off. That made these wonderful #1 consumer rated washer and dryer $375 each plus tax. I am in love with them. Even though David has been so wonderful and has done all the laundry since we got them on Tuesday!

Big Boy Bed

After Logan kept climbing out of his crib and into our bed Friday night and kept us up til 4:00 am we decided we needed to get a new bed for him FAST! So Saturday when David got home from work we headed to Walmart and got his new toddler bed. David set it up that night and Logan loves it! He is actually excited to go to bed to sleep in his big boy bed. We haven't had any problems with him not taking naps or anything. He did wake up at 5:00 one morning but he just came and crawled in our bed and fell back asleep. I am loving this bed! Plus we don't have to worry about him falling and getting hurt when he is so sleepy cause he is so close to the ground. Our next project is to stain all of the other furniture in his room to match.

Right after his daddy finished putting his bed together!

Loving his bed! Today for playdate he was excited to show Annie, Layne and Leslie!

Look Who Learned A New Trick

Logan is a very active little boy, so once 18 months hit we were surprised he hadn't tried to climb out of his crib yet. He liked to climb in, but never tried to climb out that we know of. At 2 I thought wow maybe we are just going to dodge a bullet and he won't ever try to climb out. Once he is just a little older we will get him a toddler bed and not have to worry about him falling out and getting hurt. Well on Tuesday David had the day off work. He put Logan in bed and he cried because he wanted to play with his daddy. After about 5 minutes we didn't hear crying anymore but then heard a door upstairs opening. We both looked at each other and thought it was weird and went up and checked. Sure enough Logan was standing there looking at us. We put him back in his bed and told him to climb out and he did it with ease like he had been doing it for months! We could not stop laughing. Naps for the past few days have been rough. He climbs out and in and out and in and opens the door. Hopefully the novelty of this will wear off soon for him. In the meantime we will start looking even more for a toddler bed.

New Valentines Traditions

We had a really great Valentines Day weekend. It started out with David's birthday on Friday. We had a yummy lunch at Tucanos and then my wonderful family watched Logan while David and I went home and relaxed and took a nap. It was nice to just relax. On Saturday we had a heart shaped pizza from Papa Murpheys for lunch. I want to start this every year. I think as Logan gets older he will really enjoy this every year. Then we went to the BYU basketball game with my dad and grandpa and it was a great game. They are doing awesome this year. Later we did our normal tradition of Cafe Rio for Valentines day. We have done that every year for the past 6 years. When we woke up Sunday morning Logan had been up a lot of the night not feeling well so we decided not to take him to church which gave me plenty of time to make pink pancakes for breakfast. I want to start doing this every year for Valentines Day. Next year I will buy a heart shaped cookie cutter to make pink heart pancakes. I also made David a big heart shaped cookie. My mom used to make these for us every year when we were younger and when David and I were dating I used to make them for him. I don't think I had made him one in a few years though. If you want to the recipe for it you can go to my mom's blog http://michelles10things.blogspot.com. When David got home he surprised my with flowers that he had bought last night and left in the car. I had no idea he had bought them. We decided that for Valentines Day and birthdays we were going to count our new Washing Machine and Dryer so I was pleasantly surprised. Then we gave Logan his new Backyardigans DVD we got him. We had a great weekend and can't wait to continue our new traditions next year.

AARGH Matey!!

Today for playdate we decided to go down to Orem to Pirate Island. It is a restaurant that is all decked out in Pirate stuff. It reminds me of the Pirates of the Carribean ride at Disneyland. Not as good, but as good as we are going to get in Utah. The kids had lots of fun, although Logan was terrified when it would thunder and lightning inside the restaurant. And at any little noise that was out of the ordinary. I am not sure why he was such a scaredy cat. He is not usually like that. We can't wait to go again though. If you go on a Wednesday at 11:00 they have a pirate who reads a story to the kids and they get little goody bags. It is also very reasonable priced. We will for sure be going again!

Logan watching the cannons shoot off.

At the entrance they have a really cool fountain with a skeleton and gold. And of course I only got the back of Logan's head because he needed to keep an eye on the skeleton.

What a Goof!

Logan makes the goofiest faces. This is his latest. He looks like he is mad, but he's not! I have no idea where this kid gets stuff from!

Other funny things he has done lately:

While driving I honked my horn at someone and immediately Logan said "Move Idiot". Oops I guess we really need to start watching what we say.

Logan goes up to people and says in a deep voice, "HO HO HO Merry Christmas Day! Here is candy!" and then opens your hand for you and gives you a pretend piece of candy.

Tells us everyday that it is his birthday. He just started doing this a week ago. Not really sure why.

My friend Bethany just had her first baby yesterday. While she was pregnant we would ask Logan where baby Sydney was and he would lift up Bethany's shirt and yell, "Sydney come out!"

He is at such a fun stage and it is just getting better the more he talks!

Zoo

Yesterday was free day at the zoo. During the winter months the Hogle Zoo does free zoo day on the last Wednesday of every month. We were a little nervous about the weather, but it ended up not being too cold and a lot of the exhibits were inside. I hadn't been to the zoo in probably 14 years or so, so I was really excited to go. We went with my mom, Layne, Emily and the Aulai kids. I was so glad they could come because Logan loves them so much! It was a pretty enjoyable day. Logan had some troubles with other kids that we didn't know. If they got in his personal space, he would push them. I am not sure where he learned this and why he is doing it. Hopefully it is just a little phase. My favorite of course was the giraffe and I think that was Logan's too because we could get right up next to them. There was one giraffe who was literally a foot away. I can't wait to go in the summer when Logan is a little older and all of the animals will be there.

All the kids after the ape house.

Eating lunch. However, for Logan it is more like looking at the food but not eating it.

4 of the kids in the giraffe house.

Logan and I finally getting a picture with the giraffes. Its amazing to me that parents see someone taking a picture and don't stop their kids from getting in it!

My new hobby!

For the past several months our Relief Society has been doing a crochet night every so often. I always want to go because they make the cutest hats, but I never have the courage to go by myself. It is beyond out of my comfort zone to go to any Relief Society thing by myself. When they announced it again this last Sunday I decided I was for sure going to go. My sister Hilary and sister in law Elana came with me. I am so happy I went! When I use to work a lady I worked with taught me how to crochet blankets but that's it, so to be able to learn different stitches is really fun for me. I love how they look! My sister and I also make flower clips for little girls hair and they flowers look so cute hooked to the hats.
My mom has a blog where she writes about 10 things that make her happy each week, but she also does giveaways. Right now if you go to her blog and become a follower you could win 6 Valentines day clippies, and within the next month I am going to be making a hat for her to giveaway. Everyone should go be a follower! Her blog address is www.michelles10things.blogspot.com. I am not sure how to put a link in my post so you can just click on it to go there, but it is on my sidebar.

Christmas Eve

I got pictures from my sister of Christmas Eve so I thought I would post a few for journaling because I think they are cute. We had a wonderful as usual Christmas Eve. It started out at Red Lobster with David's family. After that we went to his parents house for a little while and talked. Later we went to my grandparents and did the annual Talent Show/Nativity/Santa Clause/Gift Exchange festivities. Christmas Eve is definitely my favorite holiday. More so than Christmas Day, and this year Logan made it the best one I have ever had by singing Jingle Bells in the family talent show all by himself. He kept telling me he wouldn't do it, but then Layne got up and did it and Logan couldn't resist the microphone. It was a proud moment for me. I was also very proud when he was a shepherd in the Nativity. He looked so cute and, although wild, did great! I love our traditions!
